  • Step 3 - Interview Preparation & Skills
  • Step 4 - Job Offers and Settling in in your New Job

Step 1 - Job, Industry and Organisation Search

An effective job search requires a clear strategy that focuses on discovering and applying for suitable job opportunities. Sue will work with you to design and implement your job search strategy.

Step 2 - Applications - My CV, LinkedIn Profile & Cover Letters

Your CV and LinkedIn profile are your very own personal brochure; together with a well-written cover letter, your CV and LinkedIn profile should convince an employer to invite you to attend an interview. Whether you need a total makeover or a review of your CV, LinkedIn profile or cover letter(s) Sue can assist you by:

  • enabling you to write your chronological, contractor and/or academic CV from scratch
  • reviewing your CV focusing on the job(s) you intend to apply for
  • reviewing your cover letter(s) focusing on the job(s) you intend to apply for
  • reviewing your CV and cover letters when you are not successful in securing interviews
  • reviewing your LinkedIn profile focusing on your profession and industry

Step 3 - Interview Preparation & Skills

You have been invited to attend an interview. Congratulations! All your hard work preparing your application has paid off; you have successfully convinced the employer that you have the experience and skills they are seeking.

During the interview the employer will be seeking evidence that you are capable of doing the job and that you are a good fit with the organisation culture. With this at the forefront of your mind, your next step is to thoroughly prepare for the interview; preparation will increase your confidence and your chances of being offered the job.  During the coaching we will explore:

  • Initial screening interviews conducted by telephone, video or face-to-face
  • Reviewing your interview performance when job offers are not forthcoming
  • Interview preparation
  • Dealing with telephone, video and face-to-face interviews
  • Answering frequently asked questions
  • Answering job-specific questions
  • Answering competency-, behavioural- and experienced-based questions including use of the STAR technique
  • Answering difficult questions
  • A practice (mock) interview including feedback on your performance
  • Designing questions to ask the employer
  • Interview follow-up

Step 4 - Job Offer Assessment & Negotiations and Settling in in Your New Job

After all the hard work you have put into your job search, you have a job offer. Congratulations! It is a great feeling to be offered the job you have worked hard to secure and you will no doubt be keen to get started. I encourage you however to STOP! and take time to assess and negotiate the job offer. Doing so will be time well spent. We will discuss how assessing job offers is important to ensure the job is right for you and to ensure that you secure the right remuneration package in order to feel valued in the work.

Finally, during the first days in your new job you will be focusing on building relationships with your new colleagues and on ensuring that you know what is expected of you in your new job. We will discuss the key things to focus on in your first 100 days in your new job.
