Intercultural Services

Self-awareness, self-confidence and having a clear and focused orientation plays a significant role in ensuring professional success when living and working abroad and when returning to your homeland. Originally from the UK, having lived in the USA and Norway and now living in the Netherlands, Sue has first-hand experience of the opportunities and challenges that arise when working and living abroad and when returning home. She subsequently offers the following Intercultural Services:

  • Intercultural Communication
  • Culture Shock Management
  • Repatriation

Intercultural Communication

Learn how to communicate effectively with people from different cultures.

Sue offers two one-hour coaching sessions covering:

  • What is culture?
  • Cultural Dimensions and Communication
  • Recognising my own communication and behavioural preferences and recognising the preferences of others, (TetraMap® - more here)
  • My Intercultural Communication Action Plan

Culture Shock Management

Moving to a new country can be exciting and scary; it can create a cocktail of emotions within you. When the practicalities of navigating daily living in your new country have fallen into place you will most likely experience culture shock to a greater or lesser degree. Recognising this is an important part of managing your life abroad.

Sue fully appreciates the challenges that living abroad brings with it; she has lived in four countries and has experienced culture shock to varying degrees. She has subsequently designed a coaching programme enabling you to take charge of the challenges rather than letting them take charge of you!

She offers a three-hour coaching programme (3 x one-hour sessions) covering:

  • What is culture?
  • Cultural Competencies
  • Cultural Shock Signs & Symptoms
  • Recognising my own communication and behavioural preferences and recognising the preferences of others, (TetraMap - more here)
  • My Culture Shock Management Action Plan

Repatriation

Returning to your homeland, just like moving abroad can be exciting and scary. You will likely return expecting that things are just as they were when you left - as if time stood still while you were away! The truth is often very different. You have changed and so have your family and friends. Recognising that you will likely experience reverse culture shock is an important part of preparing for and managing your life back home.

Sue fully appreciates the challenges that come with returning to your homeland; she has  repatriated twice. She has subsequently designed a coaching programme that enables you to take charge of the challenges rather than letting them take charge of you!

She offers a three-hour coaching programme (3 x one hour sessions) covering:

  • Overview of Culture and Cultural Competencies
  • Capturing the Learning from Living Abroad
  • Reverse Cultural Shock Signs & Symptoms
  • Recognising my own communication and behavioural preferences and recognising the preferences of others, (TetraMap - more here)
  • My Repatriation Action Plan
